BVE120 is an aesthetically pleasing, ceiling mounted fan, suitable for toilets and bathrooms, which also has an LED light panel, and a filter (easily removable for cleaning).
Due to it’s 4 way air intake design, compared with traditional wall mounted AC motor driven fans the BVE120 ceiling fan uses approx. 25% of the energy, but it moves twice the volume of air required by Building Regulations for bathrooms which don’t have opening windows (moves 33 litres of air per second). Building Regulations stipulate 15 litres per second required for bathrooms without opening windows, or 7 litres per second required for toilets only. The BVE series also has quiet operation 29 dB(A).
This is all achieved because the BVE series use an EC motor which has onboard conversion from the 230v 50Hz AC supply to 12 vdc for the motor. It also has onboard conversion to 12 vdc for the LED light panel.
The air extraction rate of 1 x BVE120 is suitable for bathrooms up to 20 square metres (about 15 feet by 12 feet) assuming normal ceiling height.
The blower/fan motor uses only 4.5 watts of electricity per hour, and the LED light uses only 13 watts (LED lumens equal to approx. 75 watts old standard style bulb).
So the entire product uses less than 20 watts of electricity per hour to run both.
Assuming the recent increased rates of say 24 pence per kW of electricity at present, that’s about ½ pence cost per hour of running (in total for the fan and light) and the unit only runs when the light switch is on.
Please note that the BVE120 is a blower, not an axial fan, so it can only be mounted in the ceiling, not on the wall or through a window. The BVE120 must be mounted on horizontal sections of ceiling, not on sloping ceiling nor vertically on walls. So you cannot remove an existing noisy axial wall fan and directly replace in the same hole. Please leave at least 200 mm ceiling space between the fan edge and any walls (the air intake is from all 4 sides of the unit, and space is required should you wish to remove the filter for cleaning, which slides out sideways).
Before purchasing, first check that you have sufficient space between your ceiling joists, and sufficient depth between your ceiling and the roof/floor above. You will need to have installed a 100 mm diameter duct along between the joists to a vent on the outside wall.
Once installed you only see the white bottom face of the unit and light. The rest of the product (black plastic case) is hidden in your ceiling void, which requires min of 165 mm depth. The units visual face (from the bathroom) is 210 x 210 mm, with a maximum depth of 40 mm protruding down from your ceiling.
This product should be fitted by a qualified electrician, who will need to run wiring to your bathroom light switch. Run on timers can be purchased online and fitted by your electrician should you want the unit to remain on for say 10 or 15 minutes after you vacate the bathroom.
